Design Advisory Committee (DAC)

Meeting No.2  - January 16, 2008

2.01                                  Considerations:

A.     Jim Stinson reviewed notes from 1/15/08 meeting; Three options outlined as follows:

1.      Building per EIR (scales to 27,000 s.f.)

2.      Building basically EIR but w/increased area to accommodate up –to-date program requirements (4 cross-court gym, special education requirements, etc.) Program would push closer to EIR area limitation of 36,000 s.f. Attempt open easement @ Rollins St. vacation but strictly for pedestrian access.

3.      Build basically per EIR but put Admin function at 2nd level & Library / Comp. Labs at grade level. This option would be okay if the campus was secured with perimeter fencing.

2.02.                                Focus Design on Admin / LMC – Computer Classroom (Bldg)

A.     Emphasize submittal of plans to DSA by March 31, 2008

2.03.                                Design of the Admin/ LMC/ Computer Classroom (Bldg. ‘C’)

A.     Mercedes Metz will review the design sketch provided by PSWC and offer suggestions within a few days for review.

B.     A sketch of the LMC/Computer Classroom was reviewed and generally approved. Further refinements are to be developed later. Add another single toilet (1 for men. 1 for women) Add electronic book security system at exit. Add Office.

C.     The Phase 2 building has office spaces for speech/ psychologist/counselor

D.     Consider an outdoor patio for faculty use.

E.      Counseling Offices to be included in Bldg ‘C’ – provide area for couch for comfortable discussions to ensue.

F.      Mercedes was concerned over waiting area adjacencies.

G.     Existing equipment to be listed & measured in order to accommodate into new plan.

2.04.                                Parking:

A.     There is no opportunity to modify the parking configuration or quantity of stalls as shown in the EIR (83 total stalls –20 of which are temporary shared with a drop-off curb.)

2.05.                                Site Plan: Scheme 8:

A.     This plan was generally accepted with the Bldg. ‘C’ turned 90° (north-south longitudinal axis). Concern for slight plan deviation from EIR is registered by PSWC. The plan as shown would have the least impact on the play field area.

2.06.                                Gym:

A.     Gym Floor: study wood on sleepers vs. laminate flooring. Study alternatives –visit gyms w/laminate flooring.

B.     Shower/Locker Floor sealed concrete w/slight texture to prevent slipping

C.     Provide rolling or sliding screen between practice courts (3 screens req’d to prevent balls from rolling into adjacent courts)

D.     Gym Offices: provide area for 3 coaches, locker area, toilet /shower area, washer & dryer area – provide at boys’ and girls’ sides. Offices to provide visual supervision down locker rows.

E.      Lockers verified; 690 basket type lockers & 115 street lockers – at each side. Provide 2” or 4” concrete curb (possibly check w/Health Dept for submittal requirements) (Provide 6 baskets to 1 street locker)

F.      Showers; 1 HC accessible & 3 regular private stalls

G.     Provide HVAC at showers/lockers/coaches offices

H.     Provided district standard ventilation at gym space. Utilize high school as standard. PSWC to investigate.

I.        Provide telephone jacks at gym. Provide data/telephones @ offices

J.       Provide drinking fountains at gym and locker areas.

K.    Add storage for mats, equipment, etc. at gym.

L.      Add inserts for volleyball posts, etc. in floor at gym. Coordinate w/gym staff at later date.
